Crane and Hoist

You know the importance of compliance, but sometimes it's hard to know where to start. That's where the National Safety Council's Crane & Hoist Safety Compliance Training can help. Our safety professionals translate OSHA regulations on overhead and gantry cranes into terms you can use, and show you how to put them into practice. In just four hours, you'll learn practices and procedures that will keep you in compliance and, best of all, protect your employees. Seminar objectives include:

  • Developing a working knowledge of key elements surrounding the OSHA Overhead and Gantry Cranes Regulation (29 CFR 1901.179, Subpart N) and Slings Regulation (29 CFR 1910.1984, Subpart N)

  • Understanding crane and sling concepts, terminology and importance of best practices.

  • Applying four types of crane and sling inspections as well as safe sling operation procedures.

  • Recognize and correctly use key terms and concepts relating to overhead and gantry cranes and slings.

  • Identify characteristics of overhead and gantry style cranes.

  • Understand recordkeeping requirements for initial inspections, daily inspections, frequent inspections, and periodic inspections.
