Corporate Compliance

As a result of Sarbanes-Oxley legislation, companies and their executives must be more vigilant than ever about compliance issues and the ethical pursuit of shareholders' best interests.

Through the services of Henshaw & Associates, The Safety Center's Corporate Governance Team works strategically with public and private sector clients and their boards to facilitate efficient and effective management. As the immediate past Assistant Secretary of the United States and OSHA Administrator, John Henshaw brings an extraordinary view of how safety and health can significantly impact the viability of an enterprise.

We advise on compliance with the requirements of regulatory authorities, including the Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) and Environmental Protection Agency (EPA). Further, we research geographic regulation requirements where your firm may conduct business, including various state statutes, county codes, and local ordinances.

Program Development and Deployment

Have you already determined where the vulnerabilities in your system exist? At minimum, every business or government entity should have a written safety program, depicting its implementation of a safety culture. The Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) requires a hardcopy written program for several of the standards found within CFR 1910 and CFR 1926. Written programs commonly required by OSHA include:

After your programs are written, how are you going to implement them? Our team is well - qualified to help you develop an implementation plan and, with training support, to educate your entire company on the new program(s). Large business or small, we can help you get in compliance... and stay in compliance!

Audit and Site Assessment

The first step in identifying opportunities to improve morale or bottom-line expenses is to analyze the current state of your organization. It is no different when it comes to the safety of your employees and customers.

Our safety audits and inspections help to identify problem areas and determine the various risks and vulnerabilities of your system. After careful analysis, we will assist you in developing a mitigation plan tailored to reduce that risk and provide maximum protection to people, physical assets, reputation, governmental compliance, and modification rates. This, in turn, will lead your organization to lower insurance costs!

An audit of your system can be included in your company or governmental annual report, demonstrating your dedication to the safety and welfare of your employees, customers, and stockholders.

Leadership Institute Program

Knowledge is a key element of leadership, and safety has been a topic difficult to define, with educational programs on the subject being quite limited. When a company or government agency looks to hire a safety professional or to assign the responsibility of safety leadership to another discipline within the organization, the candidate usually struggles to gain the competencies required to do an effective job. One serious injury can lead to a tumultuous environment, full of challenges.

The Safety Leadership Institute Program is comprised of "mini-subjects," delivered by high-end executive professionals who have been there.
